Participation Needed
We are going on a spiritual adventure together as a church family to become the healthy church God desires through Natural Church Development. Natural Church Development (NCD) is an intentional process toward church health whereby the entire church family has the opportunity to participate and provide their input. In the NCD process we seek as a church family to establish the 8 characteristics of a healthy church:
- Empowering Leadership
- Gift-Oriented Ministry
- Passionate Spirituality
- Effective Structures
- Inspiring Worship
- Loving Relationships
- Dynamic Small Groups
- Need Oriented Evangelism
In November 2015, we started the NCD process by taking a church health survey that measured our church according to the 8 Characteristics of a Healthy Church. The survey results revealed that our weakest area at First Baptist Church is EVANGELISM; therefore, this is the area where we will begin. Next, the Elder Board put together a Church Health Team who will take us through the NCD process. We have been meeting, learning and determining how we can come together as church family to decide: 1) why evangelism is our weakest area and 2) what we are going to do about it. NCD is a lay empowerment movement whereby the participation of each person in the church family is needed.
Therefore, we invite you to join us on a spiritual adventure as together we become the healthy church God desires through Natural Church Development. Together as a church family, we will focus on our weakest characteristic: Evangelism (intentionally connecting with and ministering to pre-Christians we already know in order to introduce them to Jesus Christ). We will come together for all church family gatherings where we all participate.
Our Second Church Family Gathering will be Wednesday, August 3rd at 6:30pm and together we will answer the question: What are we going to do about it? Everyone will have the opportunity to provide his or her input. In the NCD process, everyone in the church family is welcome and everyone is needed. Please prayerfully consider being part of this church transforming process as we become a healthier church. Please mark your calendar and participate in our All Church Family Event on Wednesday August 3rd at 6:30pm (child care will be provided).
